I have been wanting to travel to Iceland every since I saw a documentary on one of my favorite bands (Sigur Ros) from Iceland my freshman year of college (over ten years ago). Whether you are walking the streets of Reykjavik or traveling through South Iceland chasing the next waterfall, the country of Iceland will astound you. In the summer, we weren’t limited by daylight, and explorations were endless. I hope these photos inspire you to plan a trip or get you excited for an upcoming trip to the country of Iceland. 15 photos to inspire you to visit South Iceland Some more posts on South Iceland: Two Days in Reykjavík, Iceland Experiencing South Iceland in the Summer Thank you for reading!

Traveling to South Iceland in the Summer (July), created so much extra time to see top tourist attractions with almost no one around (due to the sun never really setting). The Golden Circle may be the most visited area of Iceland, but that does not lessen the views or change how amazing your experience can be. We ventured to the more popular spots and found some more “off the path” scenes that became my favorite moments. We decided to only go as far East as Vik, to be able take our time in one area of Iceland. I hope one day we can go back and view more of the landscapes and small towns of this beautiful country. After two days in Reykjavik, we took our rental car and set out for an amazing road trip around South Iceland (I highly recommend giving yourself the freedom of traveling by renting a car). Hoping our trip and experiences can help you as you plan days of adventures in the Golden Circle and beyond! Experiencing South Iceland in the summer Renting a car As I mentioned, renting a car will give you the chance to see the sights on your own […]

Two days in Reykjavík, Iceland seemed like plenty of time to explore Iceland’s capital, especially since it is so easily explored by foot. Of course, this can depend on what season you visit Iceland’s capital. Due to nonstop daylight, we were able to enjoy the coastal scenery, history and quaint city before exploring more of Iceland. During our trip to Iceland, I knew it would consist of less coffee shops and more hiking, but of course we had to explore the largest city and capital. I am a fond admirer of cities and knew we had to spend some time before we began an epic road trip through the Southern Coast of Iceland. It is safe to simply spend a day here, but we had two days to bundle up and wander around this beautiful city. Again, due to the sun never really setting in the summer, we had FULL days to explore. As soon as we landed we went over to the Blue Lagoon (big travel moment for me) and it was the perfect way to unwind after the flight. Even though the Blue Lagoon is one of the most popular places to visit in Iceland, I still […]
