Many who visit Rhode Island often plan trips to Newport or Providence (which are places I do highly recommend), but there are so many small Rhode Island towns full of New England charm that are worth a visit. Five Small Rhode Island Towns Westerly/Watch Hill A town that has somehow remained under the radar even with Taylor Swift purchasing a mansion on the water. My mom and I always joke that she should let us use her house when she isn’t there…I mean, why leave it empty? Downtown Westerly is growing into the most darling town with new businesses popping up and adding one of my favorites, knead doughnuts. After getting coffee or lunch (Cinder Restaurant and Grey Sail Tap Room/Brewing Company are on my list for next time) head to Watch Hill to soak up sometime near the water. Once parked in Watch Hill, I recommend walking along the water lined street with little shops and then head up to Ocean House for drinks and appetizers – all walkable once you park! In the summer the Hydrangeas are blooming and it is a beautiful quaint summer destination if you find yourself in Rhode Island during the warmer months. […]

Although I am a native Rhode Islander, I never tire of spending some time there in the summer. Similar to the season of Fall, there is just something about this season in New England. During warmer months I often go back to my favorite spots, eat the lobster rolls and quahogs I crave so much and embrace all the nostalgia of being home. This trip, we wanted to have night away before life gets a little busier, and although I did a brief search in Newport or Block Island, we landed on The Stone House Inn thanks to a family recommendation. The Inn was originally a private residence built in 1854 and recently went through 12 million dollars worth of renovations – it is an historic beauty. As Rhode Islanders, we don’t make it to farther part of the states (after all, the state is small so we don’t love long distances) ;). However, I was so looking forward to exploring the small, picturesque farming town of Little Compton. We mainly wanted to stay on sight (the grounds are beautiful and you don’t need to go far to explore the gorgeous coastline of Rhode Island). The Inn & Amenities […]
