A unique and quaint beach town with views of Africa on a clear day. Tarifa is located on the straight of Gibraltar and where you can catch a ferry to visit Morocco (two continents in one day)! Fun shops, an ideal place for water sports, and a lovely Spanish village feel right on the ocean.
Guide to Tarifa: How to get there
Tarifa is located an hour and a half from Jerez (smaller airport) or 2 hours and 15 minutes from Seville (a larger airport). Unfortunately trains aren’t the best way to get to Tarifa, so renting a car is best. Where you are staying can guide you on where to park as well.
Guide to Tarifa: Where to Stay
La Residencia Puerto Hotel & Spa – I personally have stayed here and can’t rave about it enough. Especially if you are staying with kids – this is a wonderful pick. A pool with ocean views on the rooftop (and a small kid-friendly pool), good-sized rooms and a really impressive breakfast. We booked a room with a balcony and soaking tub and was able to see the kite surfers at sunset.

Cortijo El Aguilón – For a more rural escape (yet still close to the town if you have a car), it’s on my list to stay here for a slow travel trip but close enough to explore the town.

Hotel La Sacristía – Design boutique hotel in the center of the town. A lush outdoor space to enjoy breakfast.

Guide to Tarifa: Where to Eat
Numero C – Best coffee in town and a small food menu (I really love this place)!
Andrea’s Brunch – A large menu with all day brunch and healthy options.
El Lola – A favorite meal in Tarifa with classic yet elevated tapas on a quaint street.
Restaurante Mic Moc – A restaurant using healthy ingredients and innovative, creative dishes with there is something for everyone on the menu (even your dog)!

Silos 19 – Seafood and meat lovers can enjoy dining at this upscale establishment, set in a historic silo.
La Galeria Tarifa – This place has incfedible reviews and is on my lilst for my next visit.
Bar El Frances – Wonderful tapas restaurant in the heart of the town, with delicious food and space to eat outside.

Guide to Tarifa: Things to Do
Stand between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea
Prepare for a very windy yet cool experience as you stand between these two bodies of water. It is worth it to see the two signs and snap a photo, just be aware of the sand and wind.
Watch the Kite Surfers
Head to Playa de Los Lances (close to above) to see the well known view of the wind surfers on the water.
Southernmost Point of Iberia Peninsula (Punta de Tarifa)
Gorgeous views of the Strait of Gibraltar and a chance to to the southernmost point of the Peninsula.
Check out the old city gate into Tarifa and continue exploring the town.
Take in the stunning water views from the castle (and if you have kids, this is a perfect activity to get some energy out). There is a great castle themed playground not too far as well, perfect for toddlers and smaller children.
Shop the local stores
As you walk around the main center of the town you’ll find cute boutique shops such as Bliss Tarifa and. Make sure to head to my favorite home store, Moroccan Home (and visit the cutest thrift shop next door, Azogue Art & Vintage).

Head to this area for some more sweeping ocean views, and on a clear day Morocco in the distance. We didn’t climb the tower but I still loved this area. We continued to see the Plaza de Santa Maria to see a beautiful fountain as well.
