For those have been following me for awhile you know I love downtown Jax. I love receiving messages from people saying they explored the city of Jax using my blog post. I will say it again and again but exploring your backyard is always doable especially in the sprawling city of Jacksonville.  Although the city of Jax is not bumpin’ at 9PM, there are still a few spots for a romantic night or just a change of scenery on your Friday after work. This Jax date series is all about short and sweet ideas for the perfect afternoon or evening.

Jax Date Series: Downtown (cruising through the alley)

Dinner at BellWether

Bellwether is a restaurant serving elevated southern food, and located in the heart of downtown. Outside seating, creative menu and Cheesecake Rangoon (need I say more). One of the first places my husband and I had a date night was here. A sister restaurant to Orsay and Black Sheep, Bellwether is the perfect spot to enjoy a nice dinner in the city.

Rooftop drinks at Cowford Chophouse

I love a nice rooftop for happy hour or pre/post dinner drinks because you really feel like you are in a giant city. Surrounded by a few of the prominent skyline buildings and the Matthews Bridge, the city feels alive.

Take the water taxi at Sunset

Purchase a general admission ticket and enjoy being on the St. Johns River for a little while. It may be the cheapest sunset cruise you ever go on! You can see the bridges lights turn on, dolphins, and enjoy a different perspective of the city. Hopefully you get a stunning sunset, and see all the lights on the bridges and buildings slowly come to life.

Water Taxi in downtown Jacksonville, Florida at dusk

Call it a night or head to Volstead for some drinks. As an FYI, this small bar is STILL on my list but I have a good things from a few people.

Enjoy downtown Jax in a special way!

Love always,

Katherine
