If you have read my post on how to embrace Fall in Florida, you know it is all about Fall scents and flavors are key to soaking up the Autumn season. It may be 80 degrees out, but it can smell like you are surrounded by crisp New England air and vibrant foliage. Since there is no better place to buy some Fall scented candles then locally I hope this list of where to shop local for Fall candles in Jacksonville, FL helps you to shop small. The beach scene here in Jacksonville contrasts to the more urban feel of Riverside and Murray Hill yet still oozes with cool spots to grab coffee, a fun matcha drink or even some breakfast and baked goods. When visiting coffee shops in Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach, you will find unique spots as well as a few that are have multiple locations. Show Pigeon Coffee Google Maps Location A spot I frequent, I love kicking it in the morning here soaking in the outdoor stylish ambience of Hotel Palms. She makes incredibly unique coffee creations and I highly recommend stopping here! Homespun Kitchen Google Maps Location My favorite place to pick up breakfast burritos (the Phoenix is my go-to) and smoothies (A-Aron is delicious) before you had to picnic at the beach. The quaint town of San Marco is a wonderful place to spend a morning or afternoon if you are visiting (or a local). The arts, community, local shopping, amazing food, and of course, great places to sip on coffee or tea. A neighborhood that has a few of my favorite places. Murray Hill is a great spot to check out for a more local vibe, if you are visiting the city of Jacksonville. Coffee Shops in Springfield, Jax

A neighborhood enriched with with community, breweries and of course, coffee. There are two coffee shops in Springfield, Jax that I frequent and are the perfect spots to start your morning in this ever growing area of Jacksonville. 1748 Bakehouse Locals themselves, the owners (both the chef and baker), are committed to fresh ingredients and serving the community they love. Amazing pastries and breakfast/lunch menu (my favorite is the french toast) as well as tea, coffee and kombucha. Social Grounds Coffee This coffee shop on Main Street is not only serving up great coffee, but they are bettering the community through partnering with organizations and serving downtown Jacksonville as well as veterans. Things to do in Downtown Jacksonville

To plan a trip to Jacksonville often means numerous trips to the beach, soaking in the sun, and some water sports. Even locals don’t think of downtown as a destination by any means. As a new Jacksonville resident, I love spending time in the city. When planning a trip to downtown Jacksonville, there are many unique locations to add to your list. Seeing as this part of the city is not filled with tourists, many of the things to do in downtown Jacksonville are all one of a kind. Street art, rooftop happy hours, unique shops all resting a block from the St. Johns River. You may not think that Jacksonville will fuel your hunger for eclectic city vibes, but I would be prepared to be surprised (at least I was). Things to do in downtown Jacksonville Downtown Jacksonville library Avid reader or not, the downtown Jacksonville Library is stunning (on the inside and out). There are a numerous coffee shops in Riverside/Avondale – but as a local, there are some I frequent more than the rest. If you are looking for a craft coffee spot with homemade syrups, large outside seating, or a variety of menu options – this small (but mighty list) should have you covered. Coffee Shops in Riverside/Avondale in Jacksonville, FL Brew Five Points Google Maps Location Five Points is a great section of Riverside with a rooftop bar, a plethora of wonderful dining experiences and my favorite retro movie theater. If I was to suggest a spot to sit with a matcha lemonade or oat milk latte – Brew Five Points is your spot. My personal favorite item on the menu is their sweet potato and chorizo breakfast taco with an iced oat milk latte). Bold Bean Google Maps Location A powerhouse in the city of Jacksonville, I consider Bold Bean a must visit in the city. Jax Date series: An evening in San Marco

An evening in San Marco is perhaps one of the easiest areas for a Jax date night. The perfect neighborhood to walk around surrounded by great cocktail bars and impeccable restaurants. Walking around the San Marco square is a must, and the hub of this charming neighborhood. Like many small pockets of Jacksonville, San Marco has an immense amount of history, including the oldest community-run theater. With as many parks, fountains, eateries, boutiques and things to do it isn’t easy choosing a few spots to go for one night. There will be just have to be more San Marco date night options in the future. Dinner, drinks, and a movie has been the perfect date recipe for years now, making it a timeless one. This classic trio is elevated thanks to a night in San Marco. Dinner at Rue Saint Marc. Rue Saint Marc is a French restaurant that lends itself for a promising happy hour, or a dinner to celebrate a special event. An apology letter to Florida

I have officially been living in Florida for over a year (whoa). Personally I never thought I would live in the Sunshine State, regardless of how many spring breaks and blizzard escapes were spent here. Even when the cold and snow broke me between living in Chicago and New England, I moved to San Diego, CA for a warm change. There seems to be a stigma regarding Florida; snow birds, the overwhelming humidity, and a touristy place to enjoy the white sand beaches. I am not sure what it is but other than the warmth I didn’t have Florida high on my list for places to live. That may sound harsh but I am here to say ‘I am sorry’ to Florida. Dear Florida, I judged you. I used you to escape New England winters but never considered you a “cool” place to live. When I received the news that I would move from Japan to Jacksonville, FL I wasn’t negative by any means, but I had my doubts.
