An evening in San Marco is perhaps one of the easiest areas for a Jax date night. The perfect neighborhood to walk around surrounded by great cocktail bars and impeccable restaurants. Walking around the San Marco square is a must, and the hub of this charming neighborhood. Like many small pockets of Jacksonville, San Marco has an immense amount of history, including the oldest community-run theater. With as many parks, fountains, eateries, boutiques and things to do it isn’t easy choosing a few spots to go for one night. There will be just have to be more San Marco date night options in the future.

Dinner, drinks, and a movie has been the perfect date recipe for years now, making it a timeless one. This classic trio is elevated thanks to a night in San Marco.

Dinner at Rue Saint Marc.

Rue Saint Marc is a French restaurant that lends itself for a promising happy hour, or a dinner to celebrate a special event. A place where no matter what dish you get, you won’t be disapointed (or at least we weren’t). I went here recently and tried a few small plates as well as entrees. Everything was cooked perfectly and was exquisite. In addition, their cocktail menu boasts numerous innovative and delicious options as one would expect.

Drinks or coffee at the The Posting House.

The Posting House is only a little over a month old here in Jacksonville and serves a fine selection of wine, craft beer, tea and vagabond coffee. A few feet from Rue Saint Marc (above) the English-inspired bar is a perfect addition to the neighborhood. The vibe is relaxed, and was created to “post up” with others as you enjoy a drink in historic San Marco. Try local beers, coffee or their selection of herbal teas before you head to your next destination.

Movie at The San Marco Theater

Built in 1938, this retro, Art Deco historical theater is intimidate and a wonderful alternative to larger theaters. A perfect place to go before or after dinner if they are showing a movie that peaks your interest.

If you are still wanting the night to continue, I suggest heading across the street from the theater for an inspiring cocktail at the Grape and Grain Exchange. Venture to their speak-easy in the back for some live music on an intimate stage.

Truly hoping my curated Jax date night is one you can enjoy if you are visiting the Bold City. San Marco is full of charm and whether planning a girls night out or a romantic escape, you will love exploring the area.
