Thrift Traders (buying more clothes can be priceless).

I love to shop. No really, it is weirdly soothing, a hobby and I feel good after I purchase a cute top (or two). I learned that it really is just having something new and exciting to wear that I love so spending lots of money to have a new outfit every few weeks is just silly and my wallet can’t afford it, nor does my budget allow it.

Thrift traders has two main locations (plus a $2 shop in Ocean Beach) within San Diego. Pacific Beach, and their North Park location. After some time goes by and I realize I will never find an outfit that works with a shirt I recently bought (like the black peplum shirt below), or that my light purple lavender sweater I will NEVER wear even though I tell myself “next Easter I will totally wear that.” Over the years my style has changed and no, I will not wear that.

So…I take my clothes, shoes, necklaces etc. to one of the stores (tip, if the first store doesn’t take all of your clothes go to the second! Each store may be looking for different things/have more space etc.).

Below are some of the items in my bag that I traded in:

They will go through and tell you what items they can take then tell you what they can give you for cash or credit. The cash will never be that much, so I mostly always trade! I love when people ask where did you get that? And I can say…”thrift shop, $1!” Speaking of…I GOT THE OUTFIT BELOW FOR $1!” I traded in some clothes and had a $5 credit from a previous trading day (you can keep the credit they give you for a later day if you don’t find anything)! They also always have deals, like tax free Tuesday!

Shirt & Shorts = 1$

Like any good warm weather outfit I added fun sunglasses, a sunhat and necklace. The sunglasses are urban outfitters and the hat is cotton on. I think a black floppy hat this summer is a must! See similar styles at cotton ontarget, and all the AMAZING sun hats lulu’s carry – check them all out! The shorts are Brandy Melville and I think I may have actually tried them on before at the store and they are here on their website  – just saved 12 bucks without even trying! The shirt came tied, and I loved it! Future reminder that a little change to a top can make it more appealing. Thrift outfit with some accessories and BAM. New outfit for barely anything 🙂

This outfit was so comfy to shoot in! Always a blast to pretend and be a photographer 😉

So, if clothes are the last thing you should be spending money on – roam through your closet to find that sweater you claim you will may need, collect some change under your couch cushions, pull out some accessories and get yourself an outfit for $1 – or less!

Love always,
