A Guide to Murray Hill Jax

The eclectic, colorful vibe of Murray Hill, Jax continues to grow into an awesome spot of art, coffee and unique hangouts. From coffee bars to record shops, the community is strong and vibrant. In the morning, it is the perfect environment for a stroll looking at antiques while enjoying a slow cup of coffee at Vagabond, or step out at night for dinner at El Jefe followed by a drink at Town Beer Co. or ice cream at Dreamette.

Even living close by to this area, I still have found little surprises along the way, and I can’t wait to see how this neighborhood continues to evolve.

Where to grab coffee in Murray Hill

Vagabond Coffee – One of the first coffee shops I went to when I moved to Jax. Great place for baked goods, coffee and great outdoor seating in the back (will a wall mural).
The Flamingo Bar – A place for coffee but also for drinks at night. One of my favorite interiors in Murray Hill, Jax.

Where to eat in Murray Hill

Community Loaves – If you find yourself on the hill on a weekend morning try one of their specials (my favorite are the pancakes).
Bold Birds Nashville Hot Chicken – For your spicy fix and a taste of Nashville in Jax.
El Jefe – I am not a connoisseur of Tex Mex, but we like this place for margaritas and a fun dinner.
Murray Hillbilly – Vegan, gluten free southern food. Ultimate comfort dining.
Maple Biscuit Company – Biscuits and Gravy lovers, this is for you. Although a chain, their breakfast is perfect to satisfy your biggest food cravings.
Dreamette – Grab an ice-cream cone here, you won’t regret it!

Where to grab a drink in Murray Hill

Town Beer Co. – A tasting room of local beers and the perfect aesthetic to sip on kombucha or brews.
Fishweir Brewing Company – Brewery and tap room. A large space to meet up with friends.
Buchner’s Bierhalle – German beer and food with a speakeasy vibe (enter through Blackhat Vapor).
The Walrus Jax – Murray Hill’s newest spot – smoothies, juices and a bar. Check out their cooler or add wine based liquor to any of their drinks!

Shopping and the art scene

Murray Hill Jax is the perfect place for a beer, coffee, baked goods or a fun spot for dinner followed by cocktails. The neighborhood has great options for drinks and food but walking along Edgewood Ave you will find places to pop in and out of along the way.

New murals keep popping up all over Jacksonville, including Murray Hill. Keep your eyes peeled for jellyfish, Calvin & Hobbs, the ‘Grow” mural and more.
