Summer into Fall packing list

September is here and it seems that all of a sudden everyone quickly forgets about summer. Remember how desperately we wanted these warmer months? Don’t get me wrong, I am right there too. Fall to me, is such an exciting time. Coffee drinks are sprinkled with magic pumpkin spice and outfits become cozier. For some, it is a fresh start, a new season for change. As we plan and take trips during the Autumn season, the weather may not always be ripe for pumpkin picking. That is why I have made this Summer into Fall packing list!

Since I was born and raised in New England, I am a Fall snob (don’t you hate those people), and have been spoiled with some good ones. It is my all time favorite season, although it can be short for some. Having moved to a more tropical, humid and HOT area I am slowly learning what dressing for Fall means *cue me crying into all my fall sweaters.* So, here we go – some summer into fall staples for your closet!

Summer into Fall Packing List

Sleeveless sweaters

This Madewell golden sweater will be on repeat until I can wear sleeves without breaking a sweat 😉 I found some other great alternatives as well if you are heading to a warm destination this fall, or if you are trying to embrace fall in your warmer climate.

Fall inspired tees

The easiest way to pack for fall during warmer travels is (sadly) ditching the sweaters and replacing them with tees! Cognac, rust or autumn toned striped tees are EVERYWHERE now a days (and I bet even in thrift shops). Pick up a few until the heat wave passes.

Cardigans

You may need to hold off on large knit or wool sweater, but cardigans are perfect for those cooler nights and especially on the plane! If you follow Natalie Borton, you know she started the craze over this perfect Target cardigan. It is my GO TO cardigan and SO comfy for travel or when I needed it during a cool San Diego evening. It is far too humid where I live but everytime AC is on blast that sweater will be going with me!

Mule booties

Fall ALWAYS has my wallet shaking because like many, it is my favorite season to dress for – especially during my travels. I have already learned I need to refrain from buying new fall staples (like booties and sweaters) because for me in Florida, it is just NOT realistic. The Old Navy Mule is affordable and the perfect substituent for warm days you wish were cooler. One item on my fall wish-list is a nice cheetah mule – because I love animal print in the fall regardless of temperature!

Fall colored sandals

I bought these dark cognac colored sandals from target for my trip to San Diego and have been wearing them nonstop. I love anything cognac, and although I am ready to wear the color with socks and booties, these are a great alternative.

Bandanas

Say hello to your fall scarf replacement! I jumped on the bandana-wagon pretty fast and I am more than okay with that!

Denim

Last but certainly not least, your summer into fall packing list needs some trustworthy denim. Jean jacket, chambray shirt, or a nice pair of jean pants or shorts.
