Three ways to embrace Spring during quarantine

Although the Florida humidity is slowly creeping its way into our lives, the seasons have changed into spring and most of us find ourselves inside. To tell you the truth, this season is typically my least favorite season. Still, I try to embrace Spring during quarantine and make the most of the situation we find ourselves in. Living in colder climates like New England or Chicago, the weather would cling to winter as long as possible and March would sometimes provide us with the most snow (such a tricky month). I did love the feeling of warmer days though, and the joy that summer was around the corner.

Regardless of the weather where you currently live, here are a few ways you can embrace the start of the season during social distancing (a post I didn’t think I would ever write).

Three ways to embrace Spring during quarantine

1. Support your local community

I know everyone is different with their comfortability when it comes to deliveries etc. but I recently had a bouquet delivered to my home and it brought some new color to the place. There is just something about having fresh flowers in a room. Whether it be flower shops, grabbing an iced latte to go from your favorite coffee shop or even getting Spring/Easter treats from an online store or bakery. – support small businesses as they push through possibly their hardest season during this uncertain time.

2. Get outside (safely)

Don’t crowd at beaches, but go for a walk in your neighborhood if you are able to for fresh air. Even a few minutes on my porch to read or relax makes a difference. Set up a picnic on your deck or in your yard for a nice, safe way to get fresh air.

3. Stay present.

As mentioned in my previous blog post, this season and this time will go by fast even though each day may seem long. Get things done, read, write, take on new hobbies or simply rest. For me, I have loved looking back at Cherry Blossom season this time of year (as I often do when the season rolls around). Take a moment of your day to relieve anxiety – even if it is only for a few minutes and be truly present.

We can learn a lot from the tradition of viewing Sakura, and bring that mindset into this current, uncertain season we are in.

How have you been embracing Spring these last few weeks?

Love always,

Katherine
